Between the Ears
Laughriotgirl of laugh riot has a very interesting post up at the moment exploring how she feels and can express where exactly her sense of gender might be. And just why it is untrue to say that every trans person completely and only absorbs the gendered messages and training of their apparent gender as a [...]

Once More Unto The Breach
Further to my last entry, Elana is continuing to fight a good fight on Feministing with this post. I seriously doubt I will comment, I’m not even sure I want to read the comments that much once it gets going. But kudos, Elana, for a very, very, pertinent and well made point. And for continuing [...]

Feministing and Unchecked Prejudice
I really would like to like Feministing. I’ve tried to. As others have called for boycotts to draw attention to transphobia there, or organised open letters to point out the ableism, blogged about the racism, I kept reading, kept wanting to find good in it. Thing is that sometimes there is. It’s a big site [...]

Seriously?
In the last week my blog has attracted more spam than usual to certain posts. One reason comments from new people are set for me to approve before appearing. An increasing number have been trying to get links to “shemale porn” posted in comments.
Quick quote from wikipedia on that word shemale:
In LGBT communities, especially amongst [...]

Things that make you go “Wow!”
Every now and then you come across something that makes you go “Oh wow yes, this” and I did today. It’s the mp3 of an event called “Girl Talk: A Cis & Trans Woman Dialogue” at the National Queer Arts Festival (in the US). You can find an article about it here on Body Impolitic [...]

Cis
There’s a rather large blogsplosion going on, based on the response to, and subsequent “debate” around, the term cis. In the best tradition of blogging about blogging and sticking one’s oar in to a debate that you are only tenuously connected to by reading about it while linking to other blogs, I’m going to do [...]

Trans Dark Matter
Warning! This post might be controversial. Sorry about that. It’s about me! So I can’t help it!
The fact that I lack any safe space is a source of disillusionment for me. I do not expect people to be false and to go against their own opinions to provide it. It’s important to say that. That [...]

Marriage Wrongs
Seeing as I live as female and most of the time most people are seeing me as the woman I am, my partner and I are usually seen as a lesbian couple. Which is all fine. We’re actually married too, in the UK. Not a Civil Partnership, but your actual marriage.
OK so now it gets [...]
